International Women's Day - events listing now open
The 8th March every year is International Women's Day, which is a global celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of women - past, present and future. It was first celebrated in 1911, and in some countries is now a national holiday.
In 2009, International Women's Day saw 984 IWD events held in 64 countries. If you wish to get involved by hosting an event in 2010, the Events List is now open.
