Poll shows most girls are scared or worried about starting periods

Our poll on how girls feel (or felt) about starting their periods has thrown up some really interesting results.

746 girls voted - and thank you all !

About 40% had positive feelings (298 girls) and 60% had negative feelings
(448 girls).

The positive feelings were:
happy, relaxed, excited and confident.

The negative feelings were:
sad, scared, confused, angry, worried and upset.

It was great to read that 20% of girls were excited about starting their periods.

However, what was the most sad for us was that half of the girls with negative feelings were either scared or worried. We think that's really bad - that young girls starting their periods feel this way.

So there's a lot of work to be done to make growing up a much better experience for our precious girls.
